Job Summary:

The Executive Director for Operational Services is responsible for planning, coordination, and implementing operational effectiveness, efficiency and quality assurance oversight for administrative operations in support of Mercy University’s mission. The position works directly with the other departmental areas of the Operations & Facilities Division, along with Student Affairs, Enrollment Management, and other divisions.

This position provides operational services oversight that spans internal and outsourced activities across our multi-campus locations supporting functions to ensure coordination of quality assurance initiatives that deliver high quality, efficient and effective programs for:

• Auxiliary service functions related to the food service third-party program including residential dining, campus retail operations, vending and catering functions

• Campus retail stores supporting textbooks and course materials, soft goods, web-based stores and convenience store items

• Events management for campus activities, camps and conferences, space rentals and celebratory events

• Managerial oversight for the administrative and transportation services relating to central receiving, delivery services, central copiers, fleet management, shuttles and busing

• Coordination with Facilities Management to maintain a physical space inventory database that tracks space assignment and utilization analytics; and assists in rental asset operations and interface with building property management

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:  

  • Requires an undergraduate degree from an accredited four-year institution.  An advanced degree is preferred.  A minimum of three years of experience within the areas of operational services and auxiliary operations is required, and direct experience within higher education is preferred

EXPERIENCES AND/OR SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Commitment to the mission of Mercy University – familiarity with the goals of higher education
  • Demonstrated leadership, interpersonal, written, and oral communication, problem-solving, organizational, and presentation skills
  • Relevant practical experience working as an operational executive; administrative experience in higher education, preferred
  • Proven ability to drive operational change, improve performance and department efficiency
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills and the ability to enhance programs and activities
  • Experience in business operations and strategic planning
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; proven ability to plan and organize groups
  • Demonstrated ability to work through both formal and informal channels to plan and implement initiatives
  • Have a valid driver’s license and the ability to travel between locations and be on site during different shifts and weekends as required
