Embark on an exciting journey to ignite the minds of tomorrow's STEM leaders! Mercy University is seeking a passionate and dedicated Lead Teaching Assistant to spearhead our Verizon Innovative Learning STEM Achievers Summer Program for middle school students.
In this pivotal role, you will have the unique opportunity to inspire and guide a team of Teaching Assistants while playing a crucial part in delivering an exceptional STEM education experience. Leveraging your leadership skills and passion for education, you will ensure the seamless execution of a cutting-edge curriculum focused on 3D Printing, Augmented Reality, Design Thinking, and Social Entrepreneurship.
Key Responsibilities:
- Mentor and supervise a dynamic team of Teaching Assistants, fostering their growth and ensuring efficient classroom support.
- Collaborate closely with the Site Director to coordinate enrichment activities, field trips, and staff assignments.
- Facilitate hands-on classroom instruction, engaging students in interactive STEM learning experiences.
- Oversee student activities, promoting a positive and inclusive learning environment.
- Attend mandatory training sessions and a parent meeting to ensure comprehensive program understanding.
Qualifications:
-Strong leadership and organizational skills, with the ability to motivate and manage a team effectively.
- Prior experience working with youth or in educational settings, preferably in STEM-related fields.
- Genuine interest and enthusiasm for STEM education and enrichment programs.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative and team-oriented mindset.
- Reliability, punctuality, and a commitment to creating an exceptional learning experience for students.

Hours: 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM (Monday–Friday)
Locations: Mercy University Westchester Campus or Bronx Campus
Compensation: $22–$25/hour, based on previous experience as a teaching assistant (lunch provided daily)
