Summary: 

The Manager of Employer Relations plays a vital role in supporting the employer engagement strategy at Mercy University. Working under the direction of the Director of Employer Relations, the manager maintains assigned employer relationships and supports the development of new partnerships with corporate, regional, and local private and public sector employers. The manager plans and executes employer events in addition to gathering and promoting experiential learning opportunities for Mercy University students across all schools. This position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to build and maintain professional relationships. The manager is expected to perform other duties as assigned; occasional weekend and evening hours may be required. 

 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Employer Relations Management 

  • Maintain assigned employer relationships, serving as a consistent point of contact for designated partners and providing excellent customer service to employers 

  • Support the development of new partnerships with employers in target industries and geographic areas 

  • Maintain regular communication with employers to understand their hiring needs and promote Mercy College students and programs 

  • Promote employer opportunities to students across all schools 

  • Event Coordination and Support 

  • Plan and execute employer events such as information sessions and networking events, which includes but is not limited to employer sign up, facilities logistics, promotional materials, and communication requests. 

  • Assist with coordinating, planning, and executing large scale employer events  

  • Provide support with employer visits on campus including scheduling, room reservations and technical support.   

  • Student and College Engagement 

  • Support Work-Based Experience (WBE) and experiential learning initiatives across the university 

  • Support university’s employer engagement activities and initiatives 

  • Collaborate with faculty, PACT Mentors, and the Career team to connect students with employer opportunities 

  • Assist in promoting experiential opportunities including internships, jobs, and interviews 

  • Professional Representation 

  • Represent Mercy University, the Career team, and other programs with the highest level of professionalism in all interactions 

  • Join applicable networking groups and attend events 

  • Demonstrate strong written and oral ability in all communications with employers, students, faculty, and staff 

  • Collaborate across schools, campuses, and departments for the advancement of Mercy University and our students 

  • Perform other duties as assigned

  • Perform additional projects and responsibilities as assigned 

 

Education Required: 

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four-year college or university required 

 

Experience and/or Skills Required: 

  • Minimum of two years of relevant experience in Career Services, Employer Relations, University Recruiting, Human Resources, or related field required 

  • Event planning experience preferred  

  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills required 

  • Proven organizational skills, problem-solving abilities, and attention to detail required 

  • Customer service orientation and ability to work independently and as a team member required 

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment required 

  • Proficiency in MS Office (including intermediate Excel) required 

  • Experience with career services platforms (e.g., Handshake, Symplicity) preferred 

  • Ability to travel between locations required 

  • Occasional weekend and evening hours may be required 

  • Employer connections in the greater New York area preferred

The Career Counselor is a key player in implementing a comprehensive suite of career readiness programs, tools, resources, and services for Mercy College. The Career Counselor offers career coaching to students, hosts and supports programming, conducts proactive outreach to students, and offers career support through classroom visits. In addition, the Career Counselor supports one or two major projects for the team; major projects in Career & Professional Development include career in curriculum, data management, technology systems, and marketing.

The Associate Director of University Advisement is responsible for being highly accessible, integrating services and programs in academic advising, student intervention and support, professional integrations for student development, academic integrations for student development, and social integration for student development. The Associate Director supervises a team of staff that will also provide these services in a detailed and tailored approach, positing mentorship as a key relationship dynamic and providing an intentional standard of care. These services and programs will support student success, self-efficacy, and a transformational college experience, maximizing the student-centered approach and deepening connection to the Mercy University community through all years of enrollment matriculation.
