Job Summary: Mercy University invites applications for a full-time, multi-year, non-tenure-track faculty position in Entrepreneurship and Innovation. The successful candidate will be expected to teach 24 credits per academic year and to provide leadership for the University’s Entrepreneurship Program and adult learner–focused initiatives. Leadership responsibilities may be supported through course release and/or additional compensation, consistent with university policy.

 

This position emphasizes practice-based teaching, curriculum development, program coordination, and student engagement, with attention to emerging technologies and contemporary tools used in entrepreneurial and business contexts at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. The role supports Mercy University’s mission by serving diverse and underserved student populations, including adult learners.

 

Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities:

 

  • Teach undergraduate and/or graduate entrepreneurship, innovation, and business courses, including offerings designed for adult learners; and be able/willing to provide leadership and coordination thereof.
  • Teach in-person during the day and evenings, as required, across multiple campuses (DF/MT/BX), and teach online in both asynchronous and synchronous formats.
  • Support the thoughtful integration of emerging technologies and digital tools into entrepreneurship and business curricula, as appropriate.
  • Develop and revise courses that reflect current trends in entrepreneurship and innovation, including digital business models, technology-enabled ventures, and ethical innovation.
  • Employ experiential, project-based, and technology-enhanced teaching methods, such as simulations, applied projects, industry partnerships, and real-world case studies.
  • Advise and mentor students interested in entrepreneurship and innovation, supporting academic progress, professional development, and venture exploration.
  • Support student participation in incubators, accelerators, innovation challenges, and business plan competitions, as appropriate.
  • Collaborate with faculty and staff across disciplines to promote interdisciplinary learning and applied innovation.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with employers, entrepreneurs, and community partners to enhance experiential learning and career pathways.
  • Engage in School and University service, including committee participation, assessment activities, and program planning related to entrepreneurship education.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Academic and/or professional background in Entrepreneurship, Business Administration, Innovation, or a closely related field.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness or strong potential in undergraduate and adult learner teaching, particularly using experiential and student-centered approaches.
  • Familiarity with digital tools and emerging technologies commonly used in entrepreneurial and business settings.
  • Strong collaboration, communication, and mentoring skills.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with curriculum development and program coordination strongly preferred.

Education Requirements:

  • Graduate degree in Business or a closely related field required.
  • PhD or DBA in Entrepreneurship, Business Administration, or a closely related field preferred; ABD candidates may also be considered.
  • Professional experience related to entrepreneurship, innovation, or business practice required.
  • Scholarship expectations are teaching- and practice-focused.
