Job Summary:

Mercy University seeks a dynamic and energetic individual to join our teams on the Bronx and Manhattan campuses as an Associate Director of Student Life.  The Associate Director of Student Life plays a key role in creating and supporting high-quality student experience for all students at Mercy University specifically the Bronx and Manhattan Campus. Working closely with the Director of Student Life, the Associate Director will coordinate co-curricular activities, leadership curriculum and manage campus wide initiatives while providing high level administrative, organizational and management support. The Associate Director is attentive to student needs and issues affecting student well-being. This position will oversee the Bronx and Manhattan Student Life offices and will report to the Director of Student Life.

The Associate Director should be a high-energy, positive role model who is committed to student engagement, leadership in higher education and the specific needs of our key populations (e.g. undergraduate, graduate, residential, commuters, first generation & transfer students).

Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Assist Director in managing signature events on the Bronx and Manhattan Campus.
  • Supervise professional staff, including two full-time coordinators (one on each campus), providing mentorship, performance management, and professional development located on both Bronx and Manhattan Campus
  • Assist with planning and assessment of orientation programming on the Bronx and Manhattan Campus.
  • Lead student leadership development programs.
  • Manage Student Life Assistants including onboarding and scheduling Bronx and Manhattan Campus
  • Manage recruitment and training of the Mav Team.
  • Oversee student engagement platform content and reporting.
  • Plan Senior Events with Alumni and Commencement offices.
  • Serve as co-advisor to the Mercy Student Government, supporting the executive board and managing elections.
  • Serve on campus committees.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • 3+ years of professional experience in a supervisory programmatic position, including at least one year of staff supervision, preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with college constituencies, including administrators, students, faculty, staff, parents, alumni, and friends of the institution.
  • Demonstrated commitment to customer service.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including written and verbal communication.
  • Ability to develop and implement campus life policies and procedures that are consistent with student success, student learning, and student development theories.
  • Proven ability to develop and manage programs, people and resources, including financial resources.

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree required. 
  • Master's degree in student affairs, higher education administration, or in related field preferred.
