Job Summary:

The Department of Counseling at Mercy University seeks a Field Placement Coordinator to support students in the Mental Health Counseling program participating in the Career Pathways Training (CPT) initiative. This is a staff support role focused on securing field placements for students, maintaining site relationships, and ensuring full compliance with all departmental and CPT reporting and documentation requirements.

The primary responsibility of this position is to actively place students in practicum and internship settings, maintain consistent communication with sites, and ensure all placement, documentation, and reporting expectations are met in alignment with department policies.

This role is essential to ensuring that all CPT-supported students are placed in high-quality clinical field sites that meet programmatic, licensure, accreditation, and CPT-1199 requirements. The position focuses on coordinating practicum and internship placements, maintaining site partnerships, and ensuring compliance with all placement-related expectations.

Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Ensure 100% placement of up to sixty (60) CPT-funded students in appropriate clinical field placement sites with verified supervisor compliance
  • Support students in securing placements for Summer 2026 Practicum and Fall 2026 Internship
  • Identify, develop, and maintain relationships with qualified field placement sites
  • Coordinate student interviews and confirm placement matches
  • Ensure all student and site supervisor documentation is completed and submitted through Blackboard
  • Monitor student placements and site engagement during Summer and Fall 2026 terms
  • Ensure completion of required student evaluations and time logs
  • Verify that all placements meet programmatic, licensure, accreditation, and CPT funding requirements
  • Conduct site visits, as appropriate, to evaluate and support placement sites
  • Support the development of new placement partnerships and maintain existing relationships
  • Meet quarterly with CPT-1199 representatives to provide updates on placement efforts and outcomes
  • Maintain accurate placement data
  • Provide reports as requested to support grant compliance and reporting

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with field placement coordination in counseling or related disciplines
  • Experience developing partnerships with community agencies, schools, or clinical settings
  • Familiarity with grant-funded programs and reporting requirements
  • Experience conducting site visits and evaluating placement settings
  • Interest in program development and expansion of clinical training opportunities

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Demonstrated experience working with counseling students in practicum or internship settings
  • Knowledge of licensure, accreditation, and clinical training requirements (e.g., CACREP)
  • Strong organizational and coordination skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple placements and timelines simultaneously
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills with students, faculty, and site supervisors
  • Experience using Blackboard or similar platforms for documentation and tracking
  • Ability to monitor student progress and ensure compliance with program expectations
  • Commitment to working with diverse student populations and clinical settings

Education Requirements:

  • Master’s or doctoral degree in Counseling or a closely related field
  • Relevant experience in clinical supervision, field placement coordination, or counselor education
