Job Summary:
Mercy University Libraries is seeking motivated and enthusiastic candidates to fill a part-time role in our Manhattan Campus Circulation Team. Reporting to the Head Librarian, the position’s primary duties will include assisting library circulation operations and helping with projects as needed. Candidates should be friendly, open-minded and technologically inquisitive. Good communication skills and customer service orientation are a must.

Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities:
• Assist patrons with general inquiries and directional questions in person and on the phone; refers reference questions to librarians via phone, chat, and email when appropriate
• Instruct students, faculty, and staff in proper use of library equipment
• Support students, faculty, and staff in use of library computer hardware and software including the libraries’ Integrated Library System (ILS)/Open Access Catalog (OPAC), internet browsers & MS Office 365 suite
• Manage patron requests for information, service and/or support
• Assist in oversight of stacks management
• Report facility or maintenance issues as required
• Opens or closes the library as scheduled, including weekends and evenings
• Schedule flexibility
• Perform other duties/projects as assigned

Required Skills & Experience:
• Strong focus on providing patron support for efficient service delivery
• Prior experience in work in a library or similar facing role
• Proficient knowledge library equipment
• Basic troubleshooting of PC’s, printers, copiers & scanners; elevate issues to Helpdesk as necessary
• Knowledge of library computer hardware and software including the libraries’ Integrated Library System (ILS)/Open Access Catalog (OPAC), internet browsers & MS Office 365 suite
• Ability to manage and organize library materials and oversee stacks management

Education Requirements:
• Associate degree or some college credits required, Academic library experience and Bachelor's degree preferred

Physical/Other Requirements:
• Must be able to travel to and work at other campus libraries as needed.
• Must be able to push, pull, move or lift up to 50 lbs.
• Must be able to meet all general health requirements for the position as per university policies.
