Job Summary: The School of Health and Natural Sciences at Mercy University invites qualified candidates to apply for a visiting(12-month) open rank faculty position in the Occupational Therapy Program in the School of Health and Natural Sciences at Mercy University beginning September 2025.

This is an opportunity to join the accredited Occupational Therapy Program located on the Westchester NY campus. The OT Program is part of the School of Health and Natural Sciences with 5 accredited graduate health professional programs (communication disorders, occupational therapy, nursing, physical therapy, and physician assistant studies) and undergraduate programs in biology, clinical laboratory science, communication disorders, exercise science, nursing, occupational therapy assistant (AAS degree), and veterinary technology.  We have a strong focus on interprofessional education as well as local and global community service.

You will be joining one of the few programs designed to meet the needs of non-traditional, motivated adult learners, where curriculum is delivered in a weekend format. Courses are offered 8 weekends over a 4-month trimester. Additional teaching requirements may include prerequisite Health and Natural Sciences courses offered weeknights (https://www.mercy.edu/degrees-programs/ms-occupational-therapy).You will be collaborating with faculty from several health professions programs, including PT, PA, CD, OTA and Nursing, which are situated in the School of Health and Natural Sciences (https://www.mercy.edu/health-and-natural-sciences/). Our 12,000 square foot Health Professions Clinical Simulation and Learning Labs include space for practicing manual techniques, a large movement lab with suspension capabilities, and a simulated apartment. An additional floor offers hospital simulations with both high and low fidelity mannequins and supports Interprofessional Education activities. Rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications.

Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities:

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Primary responsibilities include teaching courses in the major, mentoring capstone projects, engaging in scholarship, participating in program assessment and accreditation activities, participating in curriculum review and revision, and providing student advisement.
  • Pediatric experience in both a clinical and academic setting required. Demonstrated skills and experience in teaching in higher education (including online formats) is a plus, as is a service record that supports our commitment to diversity and excellence.
  • An advanced academic degree (PhD, EdD, or DSc) is preferred, however, applicants that have made substantial progress toward completion of an academic/research doctoral degree will be considered. Individuals with a post-professional OTD, 5 years of clinical experience and 2 years of teaching experience in an academic setting will be considered.
