Job Summary

Mercy University invites applications for a full-time, visiting, non-tenure-track faculty position in Management/Business Administration within the School of Business. The successful candidate will serve in a dual role as Visiting Assistant Professor of Management and Interim Associate Dean for 2026–2027. The Interim Associate Dean assignment is a twelve-month administrative appointment. The faculty role carries a standard 4/4 teaching load, with course release and a stipend provided in recognition of the additional administrative responsibilities.

Working at a senior level with the Dean, the Interim Associate Dean supports the effective functioning of the School through academic operations, course planning and staffing, assessment, faculty and student support, strategic initiatives, and external engagement. The position also emphasizes high-quality teaching, student engagement, and academic service.

Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities

  • Teach undergraduate and/or graduate Management and Business Administration courses, including honors-level coursework, as assigned, across in-person and online modalities.
  • Provide student-centered instruction; advise and mentor students; and contribute to curriculum development, assessment of learning outcomes, recruitment, retention, and academic service.
  • Assist the Dean and faculty with strategic planning, School initiatives, special projects, advancement activities, and representation of the School within the University and broader community.
  • Oversee and coordinate School administrative services and operations, including policies, procedures, workflows, and other systems that support effective School operations.
  • Coordinate development and monitoring of course schedules and faculty assignments in collaboration with Department Chairs and Program Directors; support full-time and adjunct staffing and contract implementation.
  • Oversee School and program-level assessment processes and required reports; support curriculum and program review, catalog updates, and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with the Dean, Office of the Provost, faculty, and program leaders on state, regional, national, professional, or specialized accreditation and regulatory activities, as applicable.
  • Assist in resolving student advising, scheduling, and program concerns and support faculty onboarding, mentoring, professional development, and teaching effectiveness.
  • Assist with analysis of internal and external data, enrollment trends, proposals and grants, and planning and monitoring of the School budget.
  • Collaborate with Admissions and student-support units on program recruitment and retention strategies and help ensure School program information and website content remain accurate and current.
  • In collaboration with the Dean, develop and support partnerships with employers, alumni, community organizations, educational institutions, and other external entities, including agreements and contracts.
  • Represent the Dean and School as requested; serve on School and University committees; and assume additional responsibilities and special projects assigned by the Dean.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Academic and/or professional background in Management, Business Administration, or a closely related business discipline.
  • Minimum of five years of professional experience in business, higher education, or a related field and at least two years of teaching experience in higher education.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in teaching, student engagement, advising, curriculum development, assessment, and online instruction.
  • Strong administrative, organizational, analytical, project-management, interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Experience with academic program coordination, faculty scheduling/staffing, assessment, accreditation, enrollment management, or academic operations strongly preferred.

Education Requirements

  • PhD, DBA, or other terminal degree in Management, Business Administration, or a closely related field strongly preferred.
  • Candidates with a master’s degree and substantial professional, teaching, and academic administrative experience may be considered.
  • Relevant professional certifications or credentials are a plus.

Appointment

This is a 9-month (September 1, 2026, to May 31, 2027) full-time, visiting, non-tenure-track faculty appointment combined with a twelve-month (September 1, 2026, to August 31, 2027) interim administrative appointment as Associate Dean for 2026-2027. The faculty role is based on a standard 4/4 teaching load, with course release and stipend provided in recognition of the Interim Associate Dean responsibilities. The allocation of teaching and administrative responsibilities will be determined by the Dean based on School needs.
