Job Summary:

The Director of Clinical Operations provides strategic and operational leadership for all clinical education activities within the School of Nursing. This role is responsible for the comprehensive management of clinical affiliation agreements, clinical placements, regulatory compliance, data reporting, and institutional partnerships across undergraduate and graduate nursing programs. The Director ensures that clinical operations align with accreditation standards, institutional policies, and healthcare partner requirements while supporting the school’s academic mission and enrollment goals.

Clinical Affiliation & Agreement Management

  • Ensures all agreements are current, accurate, and compliant with accrediting bodies, regulatory agencies, and institutional policies
  • Collaborates with legal counsel, academic leadership, compliance, and external partners to negotiate, execute, and renew agreements in a timely manner

Regulatory Compliance & Accreditation

  • Ensures compliance with nursing accreditation standards, state and federal regulations, and clinical site requirements
  • Maintains audit-ready documentation related to clinical placements, agreements, onboarding, and student clearances

Clinical Placement Operations

  • Directs clinical placement planning and execution for undergraduate and graduate nursing programs, ensuring adequate capacity and equitable distribution of placements
  • Oversees onboarding processes including health clearances, professional liability coverage, background checks, and required training
  • Works closely with faculty, clinical coordinators, and site partners to ensure seamless clinical start dates and continuity of placements

Data Management, Reporting & Dashboards

  • Tracks and reconciles clinical placement data across multiple systems including registration records, onboarding platforms, and institutional databases
  • Develops standardized workflows to improve data integrity, operational efficiency, and reporting accuracy
  • Prepares dashboards, operational reports, and executive-level summaries related to placement capacity, utilization trends, compliance status, and site performance

Leadership & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Serves as the primary liaison between the School of Nursing and clinical partners, fostering strong, sustainable relationships
  • Collaborates with internal stakeholders including academic leadership, faculty, registrar, compliance, IT, and admissions
  • Leads, supervises, and mentors clinical operations staff, promoting accountability, professional development, and continuous improvement

Strategic Planning & Special Projects

  • Contributes to strategic planning initiatives related to program growth, new clinical partnerships, and operational optimization
  • Leads special projects and initiatives assigned by senior leadership in support of institutional priorities

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Strong understanding of clinical education regulations and accreditation requirements
  • Proven ability to manage complex, high-volume operations in fast-paced environments
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across departments and with external stakeholders

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelors Degree from an accredited institution required

Physical/Other Requirements:

  • Must be able to push, pull, move or lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to meet all general health requirements for the position as per university policies
