Job Summary:
The primary role of the Financial Analyst / Grants Accountant is to provide accounting, reporting and administrative support for the Finance Office as well as assist with the accurate and timely reporting and compliance with grant policies and procedures. The position also provides month-end and year-end audit support including processing of journal entries and preparation of account analyses.
Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities:
A. Administrative/Technical/Service
General month-end and year-end audit support including processing of journal entries and preparation of account analyses.
Review transactions and ensure proper application of policies and procedures.
Responsible for extracting data from institution’s database, verifying data for accuracy, analyzing data, and reporting of institutional data to management and external constituents.
Ensure accurate and timely accounting, reporting and compliance with grant policies and procedures, as well as compliance with federal grant rules and regulations and award terms.
Ensure proper use of grant funds according to award documents and grant budgets, ensuring proper allocation and reporting of funds.
Monitor grants to ensure compliance with federal rules and regulations, award terms and College policies for expenditures.
Coordinate with the Budget, Human Resources and Payroll offices to ensure timely and accurate salary allocations. In addition, accurate and timely notification to Payroll and Human Resources regarding grant salary allocations.
Work closely with program and project managers to manage and oversee budget and technical matters.
Coordinate special projects from start to finish including surveys, data collection, analysis and reporting of results to management.
Assist in developing and updating departmental policies and procedures.
Keep abreast of new technologies to ensure the efficiency of the Finance Office.
Perform other duties/projects as assigned.

E. Policies and Procedures Compliance
Complies with policies and procedures of the Department and the College including the College’s Code of Conduct.
Identifies and reports gaps in policies and procedures to management.
Complies with all required training
Required Skills & Experience:
Minimum two years of relevant experience analyzing and interpreting data.
Ability to analyze situations and exercise judgement in the interpretation, application, and communication of policies.
Detail orientation; close attention to detail and accuracy of data.
Ability to effectively manage multiple projects/deadlines a must.
Strong spreadsheet skills including advance skills in Microsoft Excel.
Demonstrated leadership, interpersonal, written and oral communication, problem-solving, organizational, and presentation skills.
Strong customer service orientation.
Ability to work independently and great levels of responsibility and confidentiality required.
Ability to travel between campus locations required.
Education Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field from an accredited four-year college required.
