Position Description: Mercy University’s School of Education seeks a Part-Time Clinical Placement Coordinator to support the Suzanne McGraw Scholars Program, an innovative pathway preparing future educators for careers in early childhood and special education. Working with the Suzanne McGraw Scholars Program Coordinator, the Clinical Work Placement Coordinator is responsible for developing and sustaining community partnerships and coordinating paid clinical work placements for Suzanne McGraw Scholars in early childhood education classrooms. This position plays a critical role in ensuring that scholars gain high-quality, developmentally appropriate, and professionally meaningful work experience aligned with program goals, certification requirements, and workforce needs. Some evenings and weekends may be required.

Primary Responsibilities:

Community Partnership Development

  • Identify, cultivate, and maintain partnerships with early childhood education centers, schools, and community-based organizations to serve as paid work placement sites for scholars.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between Mercy University and partner sites regarding scholar placements, expectations, and program goals.
  • Ensure placement sites align with early childhood and special education best practices and Mercy University standards.

Clinical Work Placement Coordination

  • Coordinate paid classroom placements for Suzanne McGraw Scholars, ensuring appropriate alignment with scholars’ academic progress and professional goals.
  • Work collaboratively with the Program Coordinator to match scholars with placements that support both coursework and long-term career readiness.
  • Monitor placements to ensure compliance with program expectations, schedules, and funding requirements.
  • Address placement challenges proactively and serve as a point of contact for scholars and site supervisors.

Collaboration & Program Support

  • Coordinate closely with the Suzanne McGraw Scholars Program Coordinator on scheduling, communication, and student support.
  • Participate in program planning meetings and contribute to continuous program improvement.
  • Support documentation and reporting related to placements, partnerships, and scholar engagement as required by the program or funders.

Compliance & Quality Assurance

  • Ensure all placements meet Mercy University policies, state requirements, and applicable certification or licensure standards.
  • Maintain accurate records related to placements, partner agreements, and scholar participation.
  • Support evaluation efforts related to the effectiveness and impact of clinical work placements.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in Education, Early Childhood Education, Special Education, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience working with early childhood education settings (general classrooms or special education classrooms), schools, or community-based educational organizations.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and sustain professional partnerships.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and coordination skills.
  • Experience supporting college students or early-career professionals preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with teacher preparation programs and clinical placement models.
  • Knowledge of early childhood education and special education certification pathways.
  • Experience coordinating paid internships, fieldwork, or work-based learning programs.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across academic and administrative units.
