Job Summary:

Seeking two site directors – one for BX campus and one for DF campus summer learning program. Preferred candidate would be energetic, organized, and personable. STEM teaching background preferable but not required. Must have excellent communication skills and work well as part of a team. This position begins immediately with 3-5 hours of work a week, increasing hours leading up to three weeks of full-time program direction. Will work closely with Mercy College Center for STEM Education leadership.

Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities:

Program Camp Directors Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary contact on behalf of the Mercy College; maintain timely and responsive communication with NACCE and VIL program personnel
  • Manage all camp logistics, including classroom reservations, student registration, parent/guardian orientations, recreational activities, and student meals and transportation
  • Work with Mercy College’s IT or other support staff to ensure acquisition, installation and maintenance of all required classroom equipment, materials and supplies, including donated tablets/iPads
  • Ensure instructors are trained in the Camp Curriculum; work with instructors to supplement curriculum with creative discovery-based activities, including physical and/or virtual field trips
  • Be present and available on-site to students, parents, and program staff throughout the 3-week camp (8:00am-4:30pm M-F) and at post-camp monthly engagements and site visits
  • Engage college administrators and community partners to explore additional resources and opportunities for hands-on student learning in STEM-related activities
  • Attend monthly webinars held by NACCE and/or VIL
  • Actively participate in monthly Directors conference call, sharing questions, recommendations, challenges and success stories
  • Attend Director’s meeting out of town, if possible

Education Requirements:

  • Master's Degree or Doctoral Degree in education-related field
  • NYS Teaching Certification preferred
