Job Summary:

The School of Social and Behavioral Sciences at Mercy University seeks a candidate for a full time position as a Visiting Assistant or Associate Professor of Behavioral Sciences or Sociology beginning Fall 2026. This is a visiting, non-tenure track appointment for the 2026 to 2027 academic year, with a possibility of a one year extension.

The successful candidate will teach undergraduate courses in Behavioral Science and Sociology and contribute to the development and delivery of curriculum within the program. The Visiting Faculty member will participate in departmental meetings and contribute to program initiatives and activities as appropriate. Instruction will occur primarily in person at the Manhattan and Bronx campuses, with some remote possibilities.

Candidates must demonstrate a commitment to working effectively with a diverse student population and contributing to an inclusive learning environment.

Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Teach undergraduate courses in Behavioral Science and Sociology.
  • Deliver instruction in person at the Manhattan and Bronx campuses with possible remote components.
  • Contribute to the development and delivery of curriculum within the Behavioral Science program.
  • Participate in departmental meetings and program initiatives.
  • Engage with students to support their academic success.
  • Collaborate with faculty in a dynamic team environment.
  • Maintain professional engagement in scholarly activity and social research appropriate to the discipline.

Education Requirements:

  • PhD in Behavioral Science, Sociology, or a related social science discipline required at the time of hire.
