Job Summary

The School of Social and Behavioral Sciences at Mercy University invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure-track Visiting Assistant or Associate Professor position in the Department of Psychology to join a dynamic team in its Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT) Master’s Program for the Fall 2026 term. Adopting a postmodern and systemic orientation, the program prepares socio-politically aware and socio-relationally responsive graduates for the National MFT licensing exam and supports students in completing the required 1,500 clinical hours for licensure, with 300 of those hours earned during the program.

The visiting faculty member will have the opportunity to teach, mentor, and support the academic success of a diverse graduate student body while contributing to ongoing program initiatives. This position is well suited for an experienced MFT interested in a teaching-forward role within a collaborative academic environment in transition.

The successful candidate will foster a culture of inclusive learning with students and collaboration within a dedicated faculty team. We value candidates who hold LMFT licensure and bring specialized interests such as sex therapy, environmental or social justice, systemic practice in the age of AI and teletherapy, systemic supervision, or program-aligned areas. The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to deliver courses responsive to the diverse needs of MFT students and participate in program activities that support student engagement and enrollment. Teaching will take place primarily in person at the Dobbs Ferry–Westchester Campus, with some online instruction. Limited teaching opportunities may also be available at the Manhattan Campus.
