Job Summary:

The School of Health and Natural Sciences at Mercy University invites qualified candidates for a 9-month full-time Visiting Instructor or Assistant faculty in the Veterinary Technology program beginning Fall 2026 for a one-year position.

 

Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities:

Primary responsibilities include teaching courses in the major, participating in Program assessment and accreditation activities, oversight of off-campus clinical teaching sites and externships, participating in curriculum review and revision, and providing student advisement.

 

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Teaching experience in a veterinary technology program (BS degree program preferred)
  • At least one year of clinical experience in small animal medical and surgical nursing
  • Commitment to maintaining high standards in the education of future veterinary professionals
  • Flexibility and availability for clinical instruction at off-campus sites as well as for instruction on some weekends and evenings
  • A commitment to engage with faculty and students and to support the extra-curricular activities such as the future veterinary professionals club, medical missions and continuing education conferences
  • Other duties as required

 

 

Education Requirements:

  • DVM (or VMD) or BS in Veterinary Technology from an AVMA-accredited veterinary technology program. 

Physical/Other Requirements:

  • Licensed veterinarian or licensed veterinary technician with a current New York State license.
  • Must be able to push, pull, move or lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to meet all general health requirements for the position as per university policies
